Steps in Getting Started

There are a multitude of things to do in preparation for building your new home
(or planning your remodeling project). Our job is to make this process as simple and enjoyable as possible. These suggestions are not meant to be all-inclusive. We hope to get you started on the right track and help make your project progress smoothly.

The first priority is to determine what your budget will allow you to build. We are often asked, "what is the price to build by the square foot in your area?". This question is much like asking, "how much does it cost for a car in America?" It really depends on whether you want standard and functional or you want a substantial amount of luxury features. Call your banker and discuss your plans with him or her. Get "pre-approval" for a loan, and then begin to look at property and house plans based on that.

If you need to purchase property for your home, we will be happy to put you in touch with local real estate people to help you find what you are looking for. We keep abreast of local real estate as a service to our clients.

When it comes time to talk price, we can only give bids on your house plans. We don't give "ball park" bids, because it would not be fair to you. When you get a bid from us, we have taken hours to do current market research on every feauture you have chosen. If you are in the market for a very affordable, start-up home, we'll guide you in your selections. You can have a beautiful new home that is exactly the house plan that you desire! There is nothing quite like the beauty of a brand new home.

House plans can be obtained in a variety of ways. We have a library that we are happy to share with our clients. There are websites, books and magazines that sell "ready-to-build" plans. 

We work with an affordable draftsperson if you choose to have a custom plan drawn exactly to your specifications. Another choice is to enlist an architect to draw your plans.
